Janel is a Licensed Professional Counselor who offers individual, couples, and family counseling services. She has graduate degrees in counseling psychology, family studies, and marriage and family therapy.  With a warm and respectful approach, Janel specializes in assisting individuals and couples facing interpersonal and relationship difficulties. She fosters growth, awareness, and improved communication patterns while providing the tools and support needed to achieve your goals.

Janel is also a trauma-informed therapist. She uses Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help patients navigate traumatic events and reduce PTSD symptoms. She has a background working with adult survivors of sexual abuse, and incest recovery, domestic violence and military veterans.

Janel employs a combination of scientifically proven methods, integrating Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and The Gottman Method to create lasting changes in relationships. Whether you’re facing challenges or striving to create a stronger, more intimate connection, Janel is here to help you achieve the relationship you desire.

Janel does not see or treat eating disorders or autism and those on the spectrum. She also does not diagnose ADHD but will treat those with a previous diagnosis who are looking to learn skills to manage their symptoms. While she is not currently comfortable providing care in Spanish, she is an avid reader and is looking to improve her command of the Spanish language so she can do so in the future.

In her free time, she enjoys traveling, watching the San Antonio Spurs, and spending time with her french bulldogs. Janel is seeing patients at Plaza Medical Centre and will see patients ages 12 and up Monday 7AM-4PM and Tuesday through Friday 7AM-1PM CT.
